As a professional nanny and educator, I have a lot to offer children and their families because of my life experience, education and careers. My background in early childhood education, and homeschool teaching would provide children with an enjoyable and nurturing learning environment. As a graduate of The University of Central Florida with degrees in Early Childhood Education, Psychology and Criminal Justice, I spent several years student teaching grades kindergarten through five. In addition, I’ve taught and developed curriculums for my four children from preschool through high school, supervised and cared for emotionally disadvantaged children, volunteered to care for infants and toddlers in church nurseries, entertained children as a costume character and amateur magician and volunteered to oversee a children’s ministry for nine years. These rewarding experiences allowed me to work with children and adults from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Having grown up in the Northeast, I have learned a very strong work ethic and believe in the values of home, family and education. Communication, time management, hard work, diligence and organization are just a few examples of my qualities and strengths that would make me a valuable addition to any household. In addition to my teaching and strong customer service background, I have over ten years of experience caring for children of various ages. My duties included creating a positive child-care environment, preparing meals, transporting children safely to appointments and preparing activities and games which would nurture the child’s self-esteem. My passion is to ensure that children learn best in a safe, caring environment. Selecting age-appropriate learning activities for children that will expand their knowledge of the world around them is important to me, including the use of music, languages, educational outings, field trips to local museums, libraries, art exhibits, and theater productions.

My overall philosophy is that child care is much more than just babysitting; it is individualized care significant to the growth and all stages of development (emotional, cognitive, social, physical and language) for each child. My educational philosophy, which is based on the theory of multiple intelligences, is that each child has their own unique learning style. For example, a 2 ½ year old may be a verbal-linguistic learner who thinks in words and loves verbal play (riddles, story-telling), whereas, a 9-month old may be more visually inclined (puzzles, picture-oriented).

My role as a nanny is to ensure that each child is cared for according their personal need. For example, a 4-month old may need to be held, rocked or sang to, whereas, your 2-year old may need to play (filling/emptying buckets, jumping, dancing, and taking walks). In regards to basic care, I would ensure that soiled diapers will be removed promptly and a baby’s bottom will be rinsed with water afterwards to prevent diaper rash. Also, I will not over tighten the diapers, as this does not allow air to flow through. Of course, these are just some examples of individualized quality care the children will receive.

My objective as a professional is to obtain a position in any field of education that utilizes my teaching skills. My long-term goal is to eventually become a governess whose ultimate responsibility is to sincerely love and care for children in all areas of their lives.

In my experience as a caregiver, I've learned that reliability and safety as well as love and nurturing are just a few of the extremely important attributes that parents seek in their caregivers.
