We are both working parents but we are family focused and spend a lot of time with kids and for the kids benefit. We plan lots of activities together, travel and enjoy life. Our kids are still very little but we give them chores and they are happy to help and learn independence, responsibility and respect.

We celebrate American, Russian, Jewish and other holidays. We take vacations at the beach, travel to family and spend time with friends.

Our kids speak, read and write in Russian even though they were born in America. Language and cultural diversity is important to us because it's a part of our heritage and connects our family around the world. We have lots of books and are big on reading to and with children.

Our au pair needs to be creative, energetic and patient. Morning, after school, and evening help is needed to keep kids in line with their schedules. We need to drive short distances to activities but also walk a lot.

The community is quite diverse. We have many people who work in law, finance, entertainment and other professional areas who commute to Manhattan. We are 20 miles from New York City. Most towns have a local train or bus that takes you directly into the city in about 35 minutes. Some highlights of the area include a local theater, performing arts center, many shopping malls. We are in close proximity to beaches. new Jersey has over 50 resort cities including Asbury Park, Wildwood, Atlantic City, Stone Harbor and Cape May.
