Family's Introduction to Au Pair
Hi there and welcome! We are the Puckett Family. My name is Adrianne and my husband is Adam. We have been married for almost 6 years and we have twin girls, Marie and Victoria. They are 3 years old as of July 2023. Our family is very close and our twins are happy babies. Marie is a sweet burst of sunshine and is super friendly. Victoria is more serious, but loves to cuddle all day. Victoria loves to hold hands and learn new things.
Until most recently, I was a stay-at-home mother that cared for both babies. I currently work part-time on weekends in Alexandria, Virginia, which is near Washington D.C., America’s capital. Adam works full time during the week, from Monday through Friday. Adam is an active duty Army Officer and specializes in logistics and operations. We do not live on the military base. We live about 40 minutes away from the military base. I also work in logistics and am pursuing a career change into the medical field. With that, I will have medical/nursing training several times a week. Perhaps, we can take some classes together at the local college down the street.
If you decide to join our family, our goal is that you both form a bond of friendship over the next year. You will have separate bedroom accommodations, bathroom, and a private vehicle for your usage. You will also have your own refrigerator, microwave, wi-fi access, desk, and closet. We are happy to discuss more details during the interview process.
We reside in Moseley, Virginia. It is about 25-45 minutes from the state’s capital, Richmond, Virginia. Richmond has many things to do and see. The city is jam packed with attractions including, some of the leading art museums in the country, science and technology museums and public parks and gardens. The colorful shopping district of Carytown and the open-air mall of Short Pump Town Center offer some great choices for retail therapy in the city. You can do almost anything you desire in Richmond. This includes water rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, shopping, ice skating, cycling, and so much more. Richmond is also about 1.5 to 2 hours from Washington DC, America’s capital. Virginia Beach is also about 2.5 hours away from our house and has the absolute best waterfront vibe.
The Puckett Family is looking for an Au Pair that is responsible, caring, loyal, creative, optimistic, and a problem-solver. We would like to welcome someone into our family that is flexible on her expectations. Assistance from the au pairs will be needed from Monday through Friday. Hours will most likely be from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, then again from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm. You are free to do what you wish on your free hours from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Saturday and Sundays will be free days to do what makes you happy. You will not be expected to work on Saturdays and Sundays.
In addition to your weekends off, you will be provided with one entire free weekend per month (Friday through Sunday off). You will be free to do what makes you happy outside of your work hours. You are welcome to drive to recreational places if you'd like to meet up with other Au Pairs around town on your free time. You may also go on out-of-city/out-of-state weekend trips with your friends once per month. Vacations can be taken at your leisure, up to 3 weeks (with ample notice in advance). This may also be discussed during the interview process.
The Puckett Family is a biracial, mixed family. I am Afro-American, black woman. My husband, Adam is a Caucasian, white man. Our twin girls are mixed race. Adam has an adopted brother that is of Asian ethnic background. Adam also has two cousins that are of Latin America ethnicities. As a family, we enjoy cultural and ethnic differences. We hope to learn from you and your culture while you are here with us in America.
In addition to childcare, we view this experience as a true cultural exchange. I will view you as another member of the family as we will have a team-based approach. We will treat you like a sister-cousin and hope that you view us the same. Hope to meet you soon!
With Love,
The Council-Puckett Family
