Dear Host Family,
I am very excited about getting to know you. But, first of all, I would like to introduce myself to you.
My name is Rebeca, I am 23 years old. I am from Venezuela. I was born in San Tome, El Tigre, but I grew up and currently live in Lecheria which is a small town near to the Caribbean Sea. I really love the place where I grew up, because it is close to the beach and it has the most beautiful sunsets that I’ve ever seen.
I am part of a small family. I currently live with my parents, and I have an older brother. We love sharing moments, going out for dinner, having special breakfasts, and we usually spend holidays together at my grandparent's house. My mom, Merlin, is basically my favorite person in the world. She is a teacher. My Dad Alexander has been my strength during my whole life, he is a qualified electrician. My big brother, called Jesus, has been forever my partner and my best friend. He works in a travel agency.
I would describe myself as a creative, hard worker and detail-oriented person. I enjoy making crafts and decorations. In my free time I like working out and going for walks. I love singing, watching movies, reading books, taking pictures and spending time with my family and friends.
I got a degree as a flight attendant in a Venezuelan aircraft company but I work in a church, in a department aimed to take care of children, I prepare decorations and crafts. I enjoy this job very much because I put into practice all my skills. In addition, I work in a social media company and in my free time I work as a babysitter. I have been taking care of children for 7 years. I have worked with different families and children of different ages.
My first experience as a babysitter started with my cousin’s daughter, Victoria. I fed her, bathed her, changed her diaper and played with her.
My family and I are volunteers in our local church. I have been volunteering for 6 years in the department of kids and teenagers. I have taken care of children between 2 and 12 years. In addition, for three years in a row, I had volunteered in the children's summer camp and for 2 years I was an assistant in the church children's choir. I have also worked as an assistant for some children's parties.
I have a huge extended family, with many cousins, that’s why I'm always surrounded by children. I enjoy helping them with their homework, teaching them everything I know, and also spend fun time playing and laughing. I like spending time with kids, because they are full of surprises and I'm continuously learning from them.
I believe this experience will allow me to grow as a person, it will help me to be more responsible and independent. In my opinion there is no better way to learn a language than living with children, helping them with their assignments and interacting with them everyday.
I believe that I can be a good help for children during their playing time, when I take them to school, and during homework time, whereas I keep the house in order, and we would also have a great cultural exchange. I wish I could improve my English, and if you think it’s a good idea I could teach your children Spanish, the second most spoken language in the world.
I have high expectations for our possible relationship, working and living together as a family. I´m so excited and very happy to live this experience with you and your kids.
