? Dear Host Family,
My name is Kawya. I’m 19 years old and I live in Sri Lanka with my mother and father. I’m the eldest daughter in my family, and I also have a younger brother, a younger sister, and two younger cousins. Growing up in a big family with small children has made me very comfortable and experienced in taking care of kids.
I have already completed my Ordinary Level (O-Level) exams and will sit for my Advanced Level (A-Level) exams in November and December this year. After that, I plan to start learning German, and my goal is to complete the A1 and A2 German exam by February 2026. I also speak English well.
Since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of going to Germany because I’ve always been fascinated by German culture, language, traditions, food, and family life. In my free time, I enjoy watching YouTube videos about Germany, and that’s how I discovered the Au Pair program. I am very excited about the chance to learn the language and experience daily life in a German family.
I believe I am a good fit for the Au Pair program because I have a lot of daily experience with children. I spend time playing with my younger siblings and cousins, helping them with their homework, and supporting my parents with household tasks. I am a very tidy, responsible, and organized person, and I enjoy keeping things clean and in order. I am also very motivated to learn German—I listen to German videos and conversations whenever I can.
After completing my Au Pair stay in Germany, I hope to return to Sri Lanka and begin my Bachelor's degree in German studies. My goal is to become a German language teacher. I believe the cultural experience, language skills, and personal growth I gain through this program will be very helpful for my future career.
