Dear Family
I am already very excited about getting to know you. But, first of all, I would like to introduce myself to you. I have been working with children and doing child care since I was 13 years old. I do also love animals very much as well. I worked for Rescue centres and have basic vet and animal training, therefore have no problems with pets in the home.
I Au Paired for a family in the UK and I managed the whole household including cleaning, washing cooking, putting the boys aged 3 and 7 years to bed and everything they needed as the parents worked long hours and I was on duty from 6am until sometime 9pm with weekends and occasionally babysitting. I was also asked back two later to Au Pair for them again which I did for another 6 months.
I have worked the corporate world and always seems to go back to childcare and animals and helping people, it is when I am most happiest. I love children and find being part of their growth and every changes of growing children extremely fulfilling. I love being creative and teaching children how to be creative as well. I believe in playing and exploring rather than TV and video games.
That is why my childhood dream to be a teacher finally started 10 years ago when I gave up the corporate world which in South Africa when I was younger was the better option due to ecomonic times, I started teaching and then decided I wanted to expand my horizons and teach in Asia where I have never been but was told was amazing and taught in Thailand, did part time babysitting and tutoring in Malaysia and Cambodia. I came back to South Africa and was Head Teacher and then Vice Principal of a Montessori inspired home school. I then managed a preschool and aftercare centre and recently taught as a true Montessori school. However the intense pressure of a fulltime teaching job and not being able to really give each child my full attention has brought back my Au Pair days and now with so much experience I can not only offer child care but tuturoing as well and administration of any household.
My hobbies are walking every morning. I love being creative- I always make all my gifts for special occasions. I enjoy DIY, fixing up rooms and sorting out things like spring-cleaning or re-decorating a room, painting and trying to fix things. Adventure activities, anything new, active activities. Relaxing watching a good movie, swimming, music, art, theatre and anything new or interesting.
I'm very responsible and have never had any bad instances with children and am an excellent driver with no history of accidents. I'm organised, extremely patient, a good listener, I'm very understanding but I do set boundaries, routines and structure which are I ensure are fair if situations arise where conflict needs to be resolved which I am very good at coming up with solutions that suit the problem is the best teachable way and hopefully unforgettable way.
I love planning and managing households to make them happy homes.
I am willing to do shopping, homework, extra mural activities, babysitting and overtime. I would be happy to also assist in the running of the home, in any way needed.
I have no references in regard to culture, race, religion, or creed and am completely open-minded, non-judgement, considerate at all times and deeply respectful especially when I'm given any instructions from a family about any activities, tasks, very importantly the do's and don'ts which I
am very conscience of as every person and family is different, never mind anything else, we are all different and it's my place as the Au Pair and carer of the children to follow all instructions as best as possible no matter what. I'm very quick learner and if I'm unsure I always check or ask a family member before doing anything or as professionals, discuss any issues or concerns with employee and employer/Au Pair and family when appropriate. Au Pairing is employment, as is teaching and I take it very seriously and be a trusted part of their employers/Au Pair families.
I am not perfect but I do the very best I can at anything I do and am always willing to learn and accept suggestions, constructive criticism and of course ask for help if need it and struggling with something and having an Open Communication line each way with any family that I may be entrusted with their precious children is extremely important to me.
