Dear Host Family,
Mabuhay!
My name is Richard, but my family and close friends use to call me "Dong" or "Pil". I am 24 year old Filipino. I have a feminine personality or I say soft side which makes me creative, artistic, fun to be with, full of stories, and all around person, simple and love with kids.
I come from a family with a high regards with caring and loving each other. They honed me as who and what I am now and it paved way for me to have a closer heart to kids. At my early age, I developed a sense of responsibility towards other especially my family because my both parents are working in our small farm and since I'm eldest, they entrusted me to take in-charge in managing our home and took care my younger siblings. We are a family of 7. I'm the second eldest among 5 siblings. My both parents are farmers. Years had passed our family becomes bigger. I have a lot of nephews. Everytime we had family gatherings, our home is full of joy. I had memorable experience with my two nephews. They are both cute and bubbly. The first one is Brylle ( now 10). Since he was 3 years old, I'm the one in-charge of him especially if her mother is working or very busy in business. Until now, he always look for me to play with me or tutor his lessons. The other kid is Alexa, she just turned 6 in January this year. We didn't have really great time during her early age, her parents always bring her home and let me take care of her since I have also twin younger sisters to be with her. Spending time with the kids gives out the best of me, I'm loving it! I am good at managing situations to keep the kids busy in a creative way. I am a happy person, I play and laugh with them. I have a lot of patience and my willingness to learn new things make it easier for me to adopt to a new situations or environment. Simulating a new environment for them is on top of my priorities. I treat kids as my own siblings while they are having fun. From my experiences of taking care kids, I learned to do tasks like preparing their meals, bringing and picking them and from school, bathing and dressing them, putting them to bed, feed them milk and changing their diapers. Therefore, I finally decided to apply as an Au pair. I come up to realize why not to use my capabilities to take care kids plus the rewarding joy I felt that I consider as well sharing with them my culture, traditions, and language from my home country? Indeed, it's a wonderful experience!
I'm a nature lover. I spent it with good music while enjoying the silence. I grew up in south part of Philippines, countryside. I also like swimming and biking together with my friends. In addition, I love to do cooking most specially Filipino dishes, makes pancakes, merienda (snacks) which I'm sure kids would love! On my free time, I read books, go to museums, visiting cities, beach or spend time with friends. In our home, I like to organize things and planning out interior designs.
I dream to travel abroad and visit many countries because I love to spend my incoming years with some memories full of memorable experiences like living in different culture, meeting various kinds of people and learning more languages. Good thing my family is always there to support me in every decisions I make. All the more, I really hope to see the other side of the world especially the western part of globe. Europe has always been on my top list ever since. Being an Au pair I think is the best way to make it happen in an easy way.
