Introduction
Dear host family:
Thank you very much for taking the time to get to know a little about me.
My name is María Fernanda, although you can call me Maf.
I am currently 26 years old and I live in Mexico City (a city I truly love!) with my mother and my brother, who are 53 and 33 years old.
What stands out the most about my personality is that I am loving, sensitive, and creative, which is why I decided to study digital design, although I’ve always loved spending time with kids.
I love art in all its forms, but especially dance, which is why I train daily with a dance company.
I firmly believe in holistic self-care in order to give the best of myself to others, so I deeply enjoy practices that connect body, mind, and spirit, such as meditation, mindfulness, and journaling.
I want to become an au pair because I believe this cultural exchange program is the perfect opportunity to connect with and have a direct, meaningful impact on the life of a family in another part of the world. This is what makes it so special to me compared to other programs abroad.
I see children as very special beings, as their innocence allows them to absorb everything from their environment, which then becomes the foundation of the human being they are growing into.
For this reason, the most important part of this program for me is the connection I build with my host family.
I have experience working as a private nanny for children between the ages of 8 months and 12 years old.
I have cared for children in one-on-one settings, carrying out activities that promote their whole development, such as outdoor activities, recreational play, meal support, and school-related tasks.
This experience has allowed me to understand that each stage of childhood is very different, and therefore each child has unique needs. My main goal is to provide the best possible care for each child. For me, it is essential to deeply understand the personality of the child I will be caring for, as this helps create a nurturing environment that supports their emotional well-being and sense of calm.
In order to offer even better care, I have completed courses focused on children’s holistic development and skill-building, including Child Environment and Brain Development, Children and Science, and Play to Grow.
When I return to Mexico, I plan to move to Playa del Carmen. I love the beach and I truly want to live close to the ocean. With a better level of English in Playa del Carmen, I could get a better job in tourism. Specifically, I would like to work in the wedding industry as a makeup artist or as a content creator, doing event animation as well. That’s why one of my goals during the program is to improve my English level and save money.
I am very excited to begin this new adventure in the United States as an au pair and to meet my wonderful host family (hopefully you!).
