Dear Host Family,
My name is Finaritra Tahina Erica Randrianambinina, but everyone calls me Finaritra , it means Joy in English. I am 26 years old, and I come from Madagascar. I am very excited to become a part of your family by the au pair program, so I would like to tell you about myself.
I live with my parents and my little brother in Antananarivo, the capital city of the country. My father is a driver, and my mother is a teacher. My brother is twelve years old younger than me, he is 14, and he is in his second year of high school now. I always have helped take care of him and look after him, especially during weekends or when our parents are away. Even now, I still live with my family, as I am single and help contribute to household expenses. We are a close and supportive family, and we like sharing special moments. Sometimes, we enjoy going out together, swimming, playing cards games, or cheering at my brother’s football matches, either karate. I have also already experienced living alone, away from my family, for a month, with some acquaintances in the countryside, during an event related to a relative’s election campaign.
I have a high school diploma from a public school in Andohalo and completed four years at the University of Antananarivo. I also hold an Advanced English Certificate, and I am currently studying the same language to increase and practice it again after a few years of pause.
Becoming an au pair is the perfect step for me. It allows me to work with children, improve my English, culture exchange and experienced a new environment where I can grow, learn, and prepare for my future goal: becoming a teacher or maybe creating my own kindergarten when I will return at my own country. Taking care of children, seeing them grow, and being part of their daily lives is something that motivates me. I had the chance to take care of kids aged from 6 months to 4 years old during a 5-month internship in daycare. I’ve already helped my cousin by looking after her 2 younger children for a long time until the first child was 7 and they moved to another city; I had to pick them up at school and look after them or take them to the amusement park or swimming pool during the weekend. And I also helped my wife’s friend by taking care of her child during the night for several weeks. These experiences confirmed my desire to work with children and gave me a strong sense of responsibility and joy in supporting their growth.
After my au pair stays with your family, I plan to move to another country to discover another one new culture and improve my experience with another children, maybe in another way as a volunteer. Referring to my future goals, the experience of being an au pair will help me develop essential skills for that. Living with a family and caring for children daily allows me to better understand child development, communication, and how to support children's emotional and educational needs.
The United States has always been a country that fascinated me, not only for its culture and diversity but also because it is internationally popular with their famous city that I want to discover and they offer many opportunities to grow personally. I believe being an au pair in the USA is a unique way to learn about American life, traditions, and values while also sharing my own Malagasy culture and background. It will also help me to improve my English language skills through everyday conversation, the reasons why I choose the USA as my future host country.
I believe that your family can count on me to be a responsible, caring, and trusted person. I take the role of an au pair seriously, but I also bring joy, energy, and creativity to everything I do. I’m flexible, eager to help, and always ready to learn. I adore spending time with children, and I want to combine safety and care with playtime and fun moments together. One of my biggest passions is playing video games. I also enjoy watching movies, singing or listening to music, playing board games, and going for walks. I love to practice sports, Zumba dancing, and all activities that make my brains on. I enjoy taking care of pets, especially dogs. I am a calm, patient, respectful, and organized person, but also dynamic, sociable, and creative. These qualities help me connect well with both children and adults, and it’s important for me to be close, to be able to share feelings, to respect each other, and above all, to adapt to the family’s daily routine.
