Dear Host Family,

Greetings from Kenya!

My name is Ivy, and I am 22 years old. I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and currently live in Nairobi, Kenya.

I am a person who enjoys meeting and connecting with new people and learning from different experiences and cultures. I value spending quality time with friends and family, but I also enjoy spending time by myself to relax and recharge. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, travelling, cooking, exploring nature and trying new activities.

Working with children has been one of the most meaningful parts of my experience so far. I previously taught English in a kindergarten in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where I lived with a host family. Living in a different country and becoming part of another family helped me become more independent, adaptable and confident in new environments. I truly enjoyed creating a fun, supportive and engaging learning environment for the children while building genuine connections with them.

I currently work with an organization focused on education and child well-being, where I help monitor children’s welfare and take part in activities that support their learning and development. I have also participated in holiday camps where we engage with children through games, creative activities, outdoor play and learning sessions. Through these experiences, I have developed patience, strong communication skills and the ability to connect naturally with children of different ages and personalities.

I enjoy being around children and I am ready to take on responsibilities with kindness and commitment, while creating a safe, fun and comfortable environment for your children. Beyond childcare, I also see this experience as an opportunity to grow personally, learn from a new culture and build meaningful connections. I would be excited to share my Kenyan culture, traditions, and experiences with your family while also learning from yours.
