My name is Daria, I am 24 years old. I was born and lived in Russia in the small town Kursk till recently. I graduated from school there and got a Hospitality degree.
Since childhood, I loved to travel and go for trips to other countries, as my family and I spent every summer in other countries. Through this experience, I was able to broaden my horizons and fall in love with traveling and exploring other cultures. My parents were always all about new beginnings, so they easily supported my decision to go on au pair program in order to further develop my social qualities and get to know new cultures.
I am a sociable and stress-resistant person, which has been proven many times in practice, not only with children, but also at work. Now I live in Kazakhstan and work as a waiter in a restaurant at the a Hotel. This work directly affects communication and networking with people, as well as with their children.
My interests and hobbies are related to creativity. Since childhood, I love to draw and even thought to connect my life with it, but with age, my desires have changed a little. I also play the piano and graduated from a music school in this specialty.
The piano is my passion, so during my student years I worked as a private piano tutor for children for several years.
In total, I had 6 students: Alina, 14 years old, Nastya, 15 years old, Gleb, 9 years old, Alexandra, 11 years old, Roman, 10 years old, Valeria, 13 years old, so I have a pretty good educational experience with teenagers. From personal experience, I can say that it’s easier for me to work with children who are 9-15 years old, since it’s easier to find common ground with them, as there are many common interests. It was not difficult with Gleb either, but due to age, more often I had to behave exactly like a teacher than with the other two. But even in spite of this, I had a fairly trusting relationship with everyone, and for 4 years of working with them, there have never been serious problems.
I want to try the au pair program because I think it's going to be a good experience for me as someone who already has some experience working with children.
It is interesting for me to visit another country not only for recreation and new experiences, but to live in a family with different values, culture, and language. To join a completely different life, combining it with work and communicating with people from another country.
Now, working in a hotel, I understand more and more how important it is to establish international relations with both adults and children. Working as an au pair, I believe, will give me even more experience working with children, which will be very useful to me even at this stage of my career, since the restaurant service in the hotel is the second most important place through which the staff communicates with guests and their children. Also I'm thinking of continuing working as a tutor in the future.
My experience of working with children as a tutor for four years allows me to quickly and easily find an approach to a child.
I often feel more comfortable interacting with younger people. It has always been easier for me to find a common language with teenagers and this has helped me in many life situations, as well as working as a tutor.
