Dear Host Family,



My name is Grace, and I am a 21-year-old student who is very interested in becoming an au pair for the summer. I am currently in University here in Ireland studying English and Music, hoping to make a career as a teacher when I graduate. I am excited about the opportunity to support a family while also experiencing a new culture and way of life.

I have always enjoyed meeting new people and building connections, which is one of the main reasons I am drawn to becoming an au pair. I find it incredibly rewarding to help families in their daily routines and to create a positive, fun environment for children to grow and feel comfortable in.

Last summer, I babysat for a family friend, where I was responsible for driving the children to and from their various activities, preparing meals for them, and spending time playing and engaging with them. This experience helped me develop a strong sense of responsibility, patience, and creativity when caring for children.

I also currently work in my local school as a substitute teacher, which has given me valuable experience managing groups of children and adapting quickly to different situations. It has strengthened my communication skills and my ability to create a structured but enjoyable environment.

I believe being an au pair is a wonderful way to experience a new culture first hand while contributing meaningfully to a family’s daily life. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to immerse myself in a new environment and learn from it. I also have fairly good French speaking and comprehension skills, which I hope will help me communicate effectively and integrate more easily.
