Dear host family,

First of all I would like to thank you that you take the time to read my letter. With this letter I would like to bring you closer to my life. I will try as best as possible to describe my life here, my wishes and dreams, my friends and family and of course myself.


My name is Indah and I am 24 years old. I am currently living with my grandma,my 21 year old brother and 13 year old sister and our family dog in a village name Remboken, which is a small village in Indonesia.
My dad worked on a local ship as a shopkeeper and my mom lives with her new husband in the next village.
Even though we live separately, we see each other almost every day and are very close.

For giving you a first impression of me I want to start telling you something about me and my personality:

I would describe me as a reliable, friendly, positive and open-minded woman who is interested in getting to know new countries and people. In my free time i like to play badminton and watching Korean dramas.
Furthermore i’m a part of a art academy in my town named “Tourinembok” since 10 years ago. At the academy i studied dancing and acting.
In the last few months i’m learning to drive so i can get driving license and help my host family in dropping off and picking up later.

I graduated high school in 2015 and entered university in 2019. In 2016-2019 before entering university i worked as a travel agent and sales promotion.
In university i majored in English literature and really liked it but in 2021 i have to take time off because the pandemic is making it difficult for my family to pay. I plan to continue studying after becoming an au pair.

Now I would like to tell you about my experiences with children.
From 2019 to early 2021 I worked for a family that had just had a newborn at that time. I worked with them from the kid was 2 months old until she was 2 years old. Even though at that time I didn't work full time because I was in college, but I was very familiar with feeding, bathing, playing, changing diapers and other things related to taking care of the baby.
In 2021 the family had to move out of town so since then I have been working at my aunt's place to take care of my nephew who was then 4 years old. Now he is 6 years old and I still babysit him.
Besides that i have also been taking care of my two younger siblings for a long time. At that time my younger brother was a teenager and my younger sister was around 5 years old. I get them ready for school and help them study because our parents don’t live with us.

In conclusion, I would like to thank you very much for taking your time to get to know me better. I’m looking forward to being an Au Pair and also a family member in your family and to spend a great and unforgettable year.
