Introduction
Dear Future Host Family,
My name is Anggun R, and I am currently working as a kindy teacher at an intercultural nature-based school in Lombok, Indonesia. I work with children aged 3–6 from different cultural backgrounds, and this experience has shaped the way I see caring for children with warmth, patience, understanding, and consistency. Through every moment in class, I learned that supporting children also means helping them feel safe, heard, and comfortable as they grow.
I am a caring and communicative person who enjoys listening, building trust, and creating a positive environment where children can express themselves freely. One thing I continue to build in myself is resilience. When I fail, I try again, and when I make mistakes, I reflect and learn from them instead of giving up easily. This mindset helps me stay patient, dependable, and adaptable, especially when supporting children through different emotions and situations.
My interest in culture and social life was what first led me to discover the Au Pair program. The idea of cultural exchange, learning from different environments, and becoming part of a family felt very interesting and inspiring to me. Being an Au Pair, to me, is a chance to learn through real experiences with children while also seeing how families from different cultures live and connect with one another. Because of that, I would truly value the opportunity to become an Au Pair as a responsibility that I take seriously.
For the past two years, I have been actively involved in education and children’s activities with different age groups. Since 2024, I have been the initiator of “Sinar Bestari,” a small literacy community for children aged 6–12 with limited access to learning. In the same year, I also worked as an english tutor for beginner students aged 7 to 13. Currently, I support children through daily routines, creative learning, gentle guidance in an intercultural school environment. Observation, patience, and understanding gradually became important parts of the way I interact with children, helping me feel more confident in supporting them based on their individual needs and personalities.
Working in an intercultural environment has also taught me how to respect different parenting styles and communicate openly with families. I believe the Au Pair experience would help me become more open to new perspectives, adapt to different family routines, and grow through everyday interactions with children and parents. To me, becoming an Au Pair also means becoming part of a family, sharing simple daily moments together, and creating warm memories along the way.
