Dear future host family,

My name is Fiona and I am 17 years old, soon to be 18 this July. I am from Stuttgart, the beautiful state capitol of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. I come from a family of four, with a brother and a mother who is originally from China. It’s this connection to my heritage and the curiosity I’ve always had about China that has inspired me to become an Au Pair there.

I’ve always wondered what it would have been like to grow up in China, and I see this as a wonderful opportunity to experience life from a completely different perspective. The culture, the language, and the way of life there fascinate me, and I feel it’s important for me to reconnect with my roots by learning more about the country and the people. Chinese is such a beautiful, ancient language, and I’ve always wanted to express myself through it. I feel it’s a part of me that I have neglected for too long, and this opportunity would be an amazing way for me to immerse myself in the culture and language while also offering my help and care to your family.

I believe I would be a great fit for your family for several reasons. Firstly, I have a lot of experience taking care of children. I’ve done a social work placement in an elementary school where I helped looking after the children. I also have a little niece who adores me, and I love spending time with her. Additionally, I have taken care of younger friends throughout my life. I am responsible, compassionate, and adaptable, and I take great pride in being a positive influence on those around me.

Aside from my experience with children, I possess various skills that I believe will make me an asset to your family. I’ve been playing piano since I was 8, and I also have a passion for tennis, having played for 8 years. I enjoy reading and solving Sudoku puzzles, which I believe reflects my love for learning. I am also currently pursuing my high school diploma and have been elected as class representative which reflects my sense of responsibility and leadership. I can tutor your child in English and basic math if needed. Additionally, I’m currently working on getting my driver’s license, which will allow me to help with transportation if necessary.

I am open to new experiences, including trying new foods, and I am excited to immerse myself in your family life. Besides the occasional drink I don't smoke, and I would be fully focused on providing the best care and support for your child.
