Hey, there. My name is Darlan, I'm 27 years old and I've been living and working in Ireland as a Health care for almost 3 years. I have a degree in Health from the Federal University of Bahia and a postgraduate degree in Geriatrics and Gerontology. My training and professional experience have prepared me to provide quality, humanized care to the elderly, adapting to the physical and emotional needs of each individual.
During my experience in Ireland, I worked with patients of different ages and conditions, including those with chronic diseases, motor limitations and cognitive disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer's. My routine involves basic daily hygiene care, administering medications under medical supervision, emotional support and encouraging socialization, light cleaning work, companionship, and physical exercise. These experiences have not only strengthened my technical skills, but also consolidated my empathy, patience and attention to detail, which are essential qualities for this profession.
I also worked as a preschool teacher for 6 months, where I taught children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old. Initially, I volunteered as a teacher's assistant at this school, and due to my strong performance, I was later hired to replace the teacher I was assisting, as she went on maternity leave. At the same time, I also worked as an educational tutor for children aged 8 to 11 years old. Because of the positive relationship I built with my students, one of the mothers offered me an additional position as a babysitter. In this role, I cared for a lovely 2-year-old girl for several weeks.

My academic training in Geriatrics and Gerontology complements my professional practice. During my postgraduate studies, I deepened my knowledge of the aging process, including the psychological, physical and social aspects involved in caring for the elderly. This knowledge allows me to provide care that goes beyond physical needs, providing dignity and quality of life to patients.
In addition, I have a good level of Portuguese (fluent), English (advanced), Spanish (I understand much more than I speak) and French, which I am at a basic level and learning every day. I have dedicated myself to improving my language skills to communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring a relationship of trust and respect.
