Dear Host Family,
my name is Mia-Sophie and I am currently a student in Germany. This summer I will finish my Abitur, which is Germany‘s highest secondary school qualification and allows direct entry to university. Before starting my studies, I would love to spend a year as an au pair in Australia to experience a new culture and become part of a welcoming family.

Through various activities I have already gained a lot of experience with children of different ages. As a youth leader in my church I work with confirmation students who are around 14 years old and support them throughout the year.
But I already worked with younger children too. In school a friend of mine and me lead a soccer club. The girls are mostly ten years old. Besides that I already had an internship in my local primary school. There I worked with kids from the ages of 6 to 10. This internship led to me tutoring one of the fourth graders in mathematics for a year.
In my family I spend a lot of time with my four years younger brother but also my two year old niece.

Why Australia and especially is my dream destination has many reasons. I want to experience a different lifestyle, for example live in a big city area or have the ocean nearby. Australia always fascinated me and this dream got even bigger when I had an Australian exchange student. Through her I was able to improve my English skills and got to know more about your culture.

In general, my language skills are well trained. English has been of my main subjects at school for more than eight years and I chose it as one of my written final exam subjects, as it goes on to be one of my strongest. I also work at the reception of an international company, where I answer phone calls and often communicate in English.

Besides school I enjoy being active and creative. I have soccer practice twice a week but also like to play casually with friends. Music is an important part of my life. I took guitar lessons for eight years and am currently taking singing lessons as well as singing in a band.
Besides that I like reading (mostly in english), drawing, spending time with my family and friends, cooking and also love to travel.

Because of my experience with children of many different ages, I am very open and flexible and not looking for a specific age group. In a family I look forward to spending time with the kids but also am willing to support organizing the daily life. I already have my German driver‘s license, so I can drive the kids when needed around.

I would love to become part of a kind and caring family, share everyday life together and support you wherever I can. I am really looking forward to getting to know you.
