Dear future host family,
I am Kelly, I’m 26 years old. I’m from Granada-meta in Colombia. Let me tell you something about my town. I was born in Granada. I grew up here, this a sunny and quiet place, with some tourist places, for example there are farms where you can spend the weekend with your family, there you can find a swimming pool, tennis table, you can ride a horse and other attractions. Also, there are many restaurants with an extensive menu to taste, and the most important is that the people are very friendly and are always willing to help you with whatever you need.
I live here with my parents and my sister. I also have two brothers, but each one lives with their family. My parents are merchants and my older brother is too. My sister is studying, and my another brother has a remote working.
In July of 2014, I moved to Bogotá to study the degree of modern languages in EAN University. I lived in Bogotá 4 years. I think that in this city I lived the best moments and not so nice moments of my life, and i’m grateful because It gave me the opportunity to meet many people of different places and live with different people too. Being away from home and deal with very different people has helped me to mature and grow as a person. I have learned to be more patient, les shy, tolerant and I am able to communicate better to resolve misunderstanding.
What can I tell you about myself? I’m a responsible, nice, really patient, generous, kind, organized girl, I really like order and cleanliness. In my daily routine, I get up, sometimes I like to write some thoughts in my notebook, I organize my room, I take a bath, almost every day I go to work with my mom, and other days I stay at home. When I am at home I like to be with my two nephews and take care of them. I enjoy having quality time with my family and Friends. In addition, I am a person who wants to do many things, I like to discover new things: people, culture and places, I love watch the sunsets, I am a fan of them, especially when I am in the rural area. I like to travel, i believe that it´s a good way to meet new people. I enjoy dancing, mostly latin or trending music. However, I usually listen to different musical styles and I love attending concerts too. In my free time, I like reading and doing crafts, and help my nephews with their school homework. Also, I use to playing sports both in gym as outside.
As for my experience with children, I consider that I have enough experience, since since I was a child I helped my mother take care of my younger sister, as I said before, I like to take care of my nephews, bathe them, dress them, prepare food for them, play with them, do activities so they don't get bored, sometimes we go to the park to change our routine. Also, I did my university internship in Espirito Santo, in Brazil, as a volunteer in a foundation for children from 6 to 15 years old, in a state of social vulnerability, and I must confess that it has been one of the best experiences for me because I learned about Brazilian culture, the gastronomy, I met many beaches and many people who were also on exchange. In addition, I took care of a sweet and intelligent 4-year-old boy for 4 months, my job was to bathe him, dress him, give him his breakfast, play with him, do recreational activities, take him to the park to wait until his mom came back from work.
Also, I would add that I have driven since 2016 when I got the license, reason why I could be a good option if I ´d have to take them somewhere.
The reason why I decided to do this is the pleasure of making an adventure in another country in a family atmosphere, which I really value. I am really excited with this opportunity, I know that to live with your children and with you, in a different country like USA, will increase my personal background and I´ll learn a lot. Likewise, I´d love to become a part of your family. I am so excited with the opportunity to know you better and to be a member of your family.
