Hi future host family
It is with great excitement that I write this letter to introduce myself. My name is Celyna, and I'm a 25 year old Brazilian.
Let me start by telling you what I think interests you the most: I have almost 10 years of experience taking care of children, especially babies.
My first real experience was in 2015, before that, I already had the habit of taking care of my little cousins, but it was in that year that my niece was born, then I really started my experience with child care. In March, 2015, my niece Stella was born, I affectionately call her Tetè. When she was born, my sister lived in my mother's house with me, and thanks to that I had contact with Teté since she was a newborn. Since then I have helped my sister take care of her whenever necessary. I helped with bathing, preparing bottles, changing diapers, clothes, putting her to bed and taking care of her so my sister could rest. As time went by, I started to take care of Teté alone when my sister needed to go out to work.
When Teté got older, she started going to the daycare, so in addition to taking care of her at home, I also took her to and from daycare.
This lasted until August 2019, when she was 4 years old and I moved to another state to start my college. Due to the pandemic, my classes moved online, so from 2020 to 2022 I spent several months in my hometown, and during that time I always spent a lot of time with Teté. In 2022 my classes went back to being in person so I moved again to finish college.
There I met my friend Mary who is the mother of Valentim, a lovely autistic boy who was 4 years old at the time, and when I heard that she was looking for someone to babysit him, I offered myself.
For almost 9 months I was Valentim's nanny, and I was responsible for taking him to medical appointments, feeding him, bathing and dressing him, playing, taking him to school, and taking care of him on some nights or weekends when Mary needed it.
After months of taking care of Valentim, I realized how much I missed taking care of children, and I decided to pursue the old dream of being an Au pair. To experience another culture and still be able to take care of children, something I love doing.
With that in mind, to be better prepared for the au pair program and get used to taking care of several children at the same time, I started volunteering as a teacher's assistant in the nursery of a daycare.
So since April, I have been working helping take care of a group of 10 children, boys and girls aged between 7 months and 2 years. I'm responsible for changing diapers, giving food and bottles, calming the babies when necessary, cleaning, organizing, putting them to sleep at nap time, supervising the babies while they play or sleep, and playing with them. I have worked an average of 52 hours a week since April, and I still work nowadays to be able to offer higher quality work and take better care of my future host kids.
I believe that children should grow up in a peaceful and loving environment, and that feeling loved and special helps them develop and makes them grow up with confidence, self-love, self-respect and awareness of their own worth.
As your au pair I would like to offer this environment for your child. I don't want to just follow the schedule and lock myself in my room at the end of the day. As an au pair, I will do my best to care for your kids with love and dedication, making sure they know how much they are loved, and how special they are. More than an au pair, I want to be part of your family.
Speaking a little about me, if I had to describe myself in one word, it would probably be determined. When I decide to do something, I have an unshakable determination, and I stay focused until I achieve what I want.
In addition I am an extremely attentive, caring, loving and careful person. I'm a great listener, I am helpful, proactive, I always strive to do what is asked of me in the best possible way, I am organized, resilient and loyal. I am a person who values dialogue a lot. I'm also a calm and patient person. I like to have my space, and I know how to respect other people's space.
In my free time I love reading, watching films, TV shows and anime. I also enjoy seeing new places and new people, hanging out with my friends, discovering new restaurants, going to the cinema, having picnics and watching the sunset and the first stars appear.
