Hi i'm Freya, i have a real passion for children and started working towards my certifications while i was in high school because i was so interested and excited by the field. I can provide multiple positive references from my supervisors at a couple of different childcare centres as well as families that i have babysat or tutored for in the past.
Unfortunately, i am not available until later this year however i thought i would start to get a better understanding of the needs and possibilities associated with this experience.
I am an Australian girl from Queensland who yes is young! however, i have my certificate 3 in early years education and care; this is the qualification needed to work as a childcare worker in Australia. To obtain this certification you need to complete 120 hours in an early years education centre which included working with children from 6 weeks to 6 years in my case. I actually completed over 230 hours in two different centres so that i would feel more comfortable to go straight into childcare.
I have put down 1 year of chilcare experience, although i was not paid for my prac i think it would amount to the same level of experience given the great level of detail and commitment needed to become certified.
Additionally, I come from a large family with four brothers, three of which are younger than me and whom i have taken care of in the past.
I understand the hustle and bustle of big families and how chaotic it can be at times, i don't get overwhelmed by this and remain very calm in stressful situations. I Also nearly never get sick, maybe once a year and never anything serious!
I have my first aid certificates. one of which is specialised to infant care HLTAID004 and the other is the standard HLTAID003. This includes anaphylaxis and asthma training, however i would be more than willing to get an extra certification if your children have those conditions and it would make you more comfortable.
After this journey (however long it ends up being!) i plan to study a psychology honours degree, which will hopefully lead me into my future career. I was a high achieving student and was even moved up a grade because of this, which accounts for my age. The point being that i'm not an air head and am very interested in children's developmental psychology. I wont just provide childcare but will choose games and interactions carefully in order to cater to your child's needs and help them to reach their potential for happiness and success. Of course, i don't mean that i will come in with a bunch of ideas about how your child should act! i hope to be guided by your direction and hopes for them.
Anyway my goodness this ended up being long, but i'm hoping the more information the better given how important a role this is.
