There are simple things I have never experienced yet, like touching snow for the first time or hearing children switch naturally between languages I am still learning. For many people, these are ordinary moments, but for me they represent something new, unfamiliar, and exciting in a quiet way.
My name is Teresa, I am 24 years old and I come from Angola. I grew up in a close and lively family where helping with younger children was never a responsibility formally given, but something that simply happened. Over the years, I cared for children of different ages, and I learned that caring changes as they grow. What a child needs at four is very different from what they need at twelve, and adapting to that became natural to me.
Basketball was an important part of my life for many years. It taught me discipline, consistency, and how to work within routines while still bringing energy and encouragement to others. I carry those same habits into childcare, creating structure while keeping a calm and positive atmosphere.
This experience abroad represents a personal step for me. I am finishing my degree in Accounting, but I plan to continue my studies in International Relations and Diplomacy, and living in another culture will help me grow both personally and academically. At the same time, what matters most to me is being genuinely useful in a family’s daily life, supporting routines and creating a safe and steady environment for children.
