My name is Benedicte. My mother tongue is French, but I am also fluent in Spanish. I have a degree in anthropology and social worker.

I began to be in contact with children from the age of 13, notably by doing babysitting.

For 8 years, I was a scout leader for children aged 5 to 16.

For about 4 years, I also took care of hyperactive children helping them with their academic work, and to better handle and live with their various difficulties.

During my studies in Brussels to be a social worker, I did various internships that allowed me to be in contact with children and adolescents, including, among others, an internship in a center for deaf children, as well as another in a “home” for delinquent minors.

At 25, I left for Mexico for a few years to pursue studies in anthropology, and worked as a volunteer in an orphanage for children aged 0 to 14, where I also taught French to young children and adolescents.

After Mexico, I went to Canada to pursue graduate studies in anthropology. While in Canada, I also worked to assist young immigrants (mostly from West Africa and Latin America) and natives experiencing social adjustment issues and academic difficulties. And I also lived a few months in Thaillande.

Upon my return to Belgium (Brussels), I did research for the European Union concerning the situation of young foreigners in Belgium. I have worked in providing language instruction (French) and academic support to children and adolescents experiencing difficulties in their studies.

I also participate in a mentorship program which assists immigrant children and adolescents (from North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America…) to better adapt to their new life conditions.

Throughout my life and in the course of my work I have always loved working with children and adolescents, and being able to help them in those areas where they needed it most.

These exchanges have always been for me some of the most enriching and fulfilling experiences I have had.
