Au Pair/Nanny job description

We are an international 2- career family but very child centered. We are politically left of center and ecologically minded e.g. try to eat organic, not use harsh chemical cleaners etc. However we are also diverse in our views and don't agree about everything! Above all, we value open communication, open mindedness, and a willingness to learn and consider other points of view with respect for differences. Both parents are self employed professionals (IT sector, and psychologist) and work in and outside of the home.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

We are looking for someone who is flexible and a good communicator, with some experience taking care of toddlers with their strong wills and emotional intensities. further, it will involve all aspects of caring for the children at different times of day. Our schedules include some fixed periods where we need babysitting, and other periods where we need flexible help. So there would be a fixed schedule for some of the hours, and other hours would vary per week. also cooking and light household work--i.e. cleaning up after meals, organizing play areas, doing laundry, and sweeping up or other such tasks as needed (we also have a weekly cleaner for the more serious cleaning). mother speaks spanish and would welcome a spanish speaker for the kids to learn spanish. But we need to be able to communicate in english and/or dutch as well, so that there are not language barriers between us!
