Au Pair job description

We have a cleaning lady twice per week for heavy cleaning (bathrooms, floors,). But we expect support in day-to-day household tasks: putting things away (not just walking past a mess), laundry/ironing, shopping, preparation and cleaning up of meals. We appreciate someone who is able to prepare the girls for school in the morning, perform errands / go shopping during the day, and help with dinner & bedtime. She must take initiative, anticipate our needs, not wait for instructions. She should have something special to offer: a hobby or talent to share with us. We need someone who we trust when we go out, knowing that she will engage the children in play and story-telling, not TV. Support with the children includes bringing the girls to / from kindergarten, going to the park, reading books (lots of books!!), puzzles, changing diapers, and of course babysitting 2-3 evenings per week. In other words giving the parents (especially Soline) a chance to catch her breath :-)

Family's Message to Au Pairs

Dear Au Pair candidate, Shalom, Bonjour, Hola !! We are truly international with four passports and five languages spoken fluently. We have two daughters - born 2004 and 2007, maybe more will follow. Our aim in hiring an au-pair is to enjoy stress-free quality time with our children. We live in a loft house (converted from an old factory) in the heart of Berlin (Mitte). We constantly run up and down 3-1/2 levels to get something we forgot ... it keeps us in shape since we don't have much time for sports. You need to be fit to keep up with us. We can walk to Berlin's attractions: museums, parks, history, architecture. We consider ourselves "cultural marathon runners" but truth is that with two small children we go less than before to art exhibits, concerts, restaurants and cafés. We have a good sense of humor. We look forward to our Au Pair adding to this happy environment and benefitting from it at the same time.
