Nanny's Message to Families

I am a native Louisianan who relocated to Tallahassee to finish school and care for/be closer to my terminally ill father. I packed up my life and moved to a new city where I wasn’t sure what the future held, but I knew it would be something great! In December 2008 I graduated from Florida State University with degrees in Finance and Marketing. The plan was to start a "career" job. I have always wanted to move to the NYC area and strongly considered moving there after school, but in good continence I couldn't move to a new city without a job or at least a plan. After a recent conversation with a friend that mentioned being a live in nanny, the idea seemed like a feasible one. Currently I am a live in nanny or a built in babysitter for my niece, which means everyday I get to experience the joy of hanging out with and actively participating in Miss Chandler’s transformation into a smart young lady. In addition to Chandler, I watch my 1 year old niece, 1year old nephew, 6 year old nephew (who is a ball of energy) and I have experience with older children as a camp councilor and dance teacher. Growing up, I was an only child and until recently, I had no idea how much fun, joy, silliness, and excitement children truly add to a family. I would feel lucky to get the opportunity to join your family and see what your child has to teach me! As far as activities with children are concerned my sports experience includes, soccer, softball, dance, and swim team. I love to do arts and crafts as well as play any kind of game. When it comes to homework, I am one of those freakish people that really like math and would categorize it as fun! My philosophy for learning is to make it as hands on and as engaging as possible. Though I don’t have an education background, my mother was a teacher and I still use the tools that she taught me today. As for the other duties, I have a driver’s license and would be willing to bring my car up, but would prefer not to. I cook, clean, and do laundry. I enjoy running, museums, sporting events, movies, and reading. I am easy to live with, prompt, responsible, respectful, and excited to possibly start a new chapter in my life with your family!
