| • Dear Host Family!
My name is Inga, I'm 19 and I am from Szczecin, Poland. Szczecin is a port town, situated close to the German border - that's why I graduated not only from Polish highs school, but also from a German school in Löcknitz - a small town near to the border. I'm an AuPair in USA right now and I am having such a great experience, I want to make it in France to improve my very-basic French. My mom works a lot, and usually I've been looking after my younger sister. I helped her with her homework and prepare meals for her. We do the cleaning and also spend a lot of time together. After I graduated from highschool I moved to Ireland for a couple of months, to explore the country and improve my English language skills. I work as volunteer on music and theatre festivals. I’ve got lots of fun by helping others, so sometimes I work with handicapped children. I love to listen music and to discover new music styles and groups. My other adventure with children started in Scouts Group (I participated there for 6 years). There I had an opportunity to learn, apart from many forms of playing with children, responsibility for the whole flock of youngsters. My next experience was working with children with handicapped children - we were learning together, going to various concerts and exhibitions. Thanks to this experience I managed to overcome many emotional barriers. In fact the children were wonderful. During summer holidays I look after my little cousins: Sebastian (12), Szymon (2) and Michal (8). Together we explore all the secrets and spots of interest in the neighborhood. When I was 16, I looked after five-year-old Kacper during holidays. Kacper is an incredibly intelligent and clever boy - even during holidays we were spending a lot of time learning how to read and write. I was like a sister and a best friend for him: he used to tell me all about his small and bigger problems. We used to spend whole days together - walking in the park, playing and learning new skills. I enjoyed the time I’ve spent with Kacper because he’s a great child. He never gave me any problems while I was looking after him. When my friend had a child, I immediately became an aunt. Since he is 6 months old, I help his mum with some of her duties - for a few hours a week I look after the baby, to let her have some rest for a while. Apart from basic things, such as bathing, spoon feeding or changing diapers, I try to diversify child's activities. The major part of our time we spend outdoors, in the park. We like to play and laugh a lot. As said, I'm an Au Pair in USA for the next couple of months- I came here to take care of Miller, who has been 10 weeks old on the time of my arrival, now he is 10 months. I am like a big sister for Miller- we spend together all days long. I'm working about 10 hours a day: making diapers laundry, feeding, preparing meals, putting to sleep, playing etc. are my duties. I have always had contact with children, so I hardly imagine my life without them. That's why I would like to spend as much time with children as possible. That’s why I decided to become an Au Pair. I’d like to make new friends, see interesting places in your country and of course improve my language skills, because french is required on the studies I want to make hope you have learnt from this letter the things you wanted to know about me.
