Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear host family! My name is Verena , I am 19 years old and I’m from Freistadt, a small city in Upper Austria. I finished school for becoming a kindergarten Teacher with matura in June. At the moment I am working as an Au Pair in Canada (Vancouver) till February 2009. I'm very interested to get to know new people, cultures and countries. My education: I always loved working and being with children, and since I was 7, I wanted to become a kindergarten-teacher. After primary and secondary school in my hometown, I entered the school for becoming a kindergarten-teacher in Linz. It’s an amazing school because we had many several subjects like art, playing the guitar, playing the recorder, education, music, geography,… During the school education I attend a course to get to know how to care for young babies and I also made the exam for being a lifeguard. On weekends I worked as waitress in a bar near my hometown. something about myself: I think that I am a very communicative, friendly, open and creative person. I also think that I’m a very self-confident person and that I have a sense of responsibility. I like being with people and get to know new people. I also have a good sense of humour and I love it to laugh. I have no problems to cope with new situations and to adapt myself in new situations. I had to present myself in many different kindergartens and I also had to provide confidence to the children. I also love to do sports. In my free time I often went swimming and in the evenings before I go to bed I love to go jogging or go by bike. In winter I like snowboarding very much and in summer I especially love playing volleyball. Another hobby of mine is making music and listening to music. I attend music school since I was 6 years old and now I am able to play several instruments like guitar, clarinet, piano or recorder.
