Au Pair/Nanny job description

From Monday to Friday you will get the children up and help get them dressed and ready for school day. Prepare breakfast and school lunch and walk them to the school bus. After school meet them at the bus, take them home and help them do homework, reading, math and/or play/entertain them until dinner time. On occasion, help prepare meals and help with light house work as time permits - but most important is that the girls are being looked after, they are safe and healthy. On occasion get them ready and take them to their dance classes. Generally you have the evening free but on occasion I need you look after the children in the evening, including showers and putting them to bed. At all time you are also to encourage proper hygiene and proper manners. The Weekends are your free and off time - usually from Friday night to Sunday night. You are more than welcome to stay at home or go out and do whatever you would like to do.

Family's Message to Au Pairs and Nannies

Dear Au Pair, I am a divorced single dad with two young daughters ages 6 years old and 11 years old. They live with me about 80% of the time but go to see their mother only 3 weekends per month. My daughters as you can see are very precious to me and it is most important that I find an Au Pair/Nanny to help me care for them and ensure that are safe and healthy when I am not home. I only need help with them from Monday to Friday so I can work. This routine is before and after school until I return home from work, sometimes I also work at night but this is on rare occasions. Occasionally I also work from home during the day but still require the girls to be looked after. The girls are very "girly girls" who love do arts and crafts, go to the movies, museums, theaters, reading, ride their bicycles, go for long walks by the lake, play outside, go to the park and even like to go fishing! They take dance lessons for Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern and Musical Theater. They are learning to play the piano and guitar. They love to put on dance shows at home and I'm sure somehow you would be asked to join in their fun! We want you to become a member of our family much like an older sister or an aunt. We would like you to join us in family functions such as celebrating birthdays and holidays and joining us family trips if you would like to. Although we can only offer you room and board, we will do our best to make you feel like a member of the family and at home as much as possible including, within reason, providing you with you favorite foods and toiletries so it will not cost you anything to live with us. You will have your own room with a TV and access to a computer with access to the internet. Although you will share the rest of the house with us, your room will be where you can have your privacy. This is important to us and we will respect your privacy when you want it. We have had Au Pairs in the past and still consider them very much apart of our family and we still keep in contact with them. They are more than willing to talk to you about us and we can provide other references if you would like.
