| Dear Host Family,
Once upon a time there was a young eighteen year old Frenchman, named Aurélien, born on 26th September 1989 in Bourgoin-Jallieu, a small city in the southeast of France near the mountains, and living in Lyon, the second biggest city of France after Paris. This young man passionate for children and America decided one day to realize his dream to be an au pair in the USA. I hope to realize this dream thanks to you!
The eldest of a family with three children, I am currently living with my mum, Sandrine, thirty-eight year old, a manager in the civil service. She has strongly encouraged and supported me in this project, because she knows I have all the qualities to be an au pair: I love taking care of children, entertaining them, bringing them new knowledge, developing their imagination with manual activities and possibly teaching them the French language. I am also living with my seventeen year old sister named Chloé, a secondary school student, as well as my baby brother, Thomas, sixteen month old, in an apartment in central Lyon, a big cultural and tourist city, situated in the southeastern part of France, between Paris and the French Riviera. Lyon is a very rich city with an architectural and historical, religious, cultural and artistic patrimony and gastronome too.
Moreover, it is in this city I was able to try out my babysitting talents. Indeed, I have been taking care of two young children since September 2007 on top of the work I do every week-end in a restaurant as a waiter. I love children (my priorities being their security and their well-being) and I have a very good relation with them. Three times a week, I fetch Céleste, four year old, at the school gate and we go to the park for fun and to relax. Céleste, being in a bilingual school, we are sometimes talking in English, and she is very gifted! Then, we go for a walk before taking her back to her nanny. From time to time, I kept her with her two year old brother, Martin, at their home where we played and had a good time. I prepared the meal and put them to bed. Each Tuesday night, in a different family, I keep and take care of Otto, three year old, and put him to bed after having played, eaten and read a book to him. I keep an eye on him and I wait for his mum to come back from the theater. I have experience with my baby brother too. I have ever prepared for him his baby bottles and his meal, changed his diapers and given him a bath. These children are so cute!
Concerning my studies, graduating from my European high school diploma specialized in engineer sciences, I decided to totally change my course and that is why I am currently studying arts (cinema, theater, dance and photography) and French language and literature at the university in first year. I have my TOEIC too, and I have been studying English for twelve years, three of which were in a European class. At the end of this first year as an au pair, I would like to study fashion in London or in the USA to become a fashion designer. Afterwards, I hope to live in the USA. It has always been my dream.
Therefore, this experience would be for me a real professional, personal and cultural step, a great opportunity to know your American culture, to discover your country and to improve my English. Personally, to live as a part of a family is the best way to share our way of life, our activities and to make new friends.
I am very open-minded and I love doing new activities, discovering new environments, new food… I am very curious. For my part, I love traveling and visiting new countries; I have been to England, Germany (I speak German too), Spain, Italy, Switzerland and to the United States too, with my European class, in a host family from North Dakota. I also like cooking and gourmet food, going to the theater, opera and cinema, watching television and movies, dancing, listening music, discovering technologies, fashion, shopping and going for a walk, doing water sports and swimming, reading and writing, skiing and especially arts (painting, photography, sculpture, architecture…) and going to contemporary museums. I like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and David Gerstein very much. I have been a model for a fashion shop in 2003 too, and I have danced rock’n’roll for five years. The fact I have my driving license and my first aid certificate (AFPS) will be an additional advantage for you. Finally, I will make all my qualities available to you during this stay: responsibility, organization, respect, sociability, dynamism, seriousness, maturity, autonomy, ambition, sincerity, patience and fun!
I will be very happy to be an au pair in your family, Hopping my profile will be suitable to you, Looking forward to a close contact,
Best Regards, Aurélien |
