| Dear host family,
My name is Luisa and I am 18 years old and I am the third child of Harald and Kornelia who are married. My father is joiner and my mother is a shop assistant. My two older brother and sisters work too. My first day at primary school was in summer of 1996. After 4 happy years I change the school. In 2006 I have graduated my primary school examination. And I have graduate my A-level examination in this year, with good results. I like to do a lot of sport, for example volleyball in a club in which I practice every week. I hope that I can learn in America a new and interesting sport kind, for example surfing. In my freetime I like to go swimming, listen music and meet my friends. At a village festival as carnival I dance with my friends and other teenager. I organize the day by myself. I live in the week alone in a city, because my school not near our village. I live there in a share of flat and do all things in my own household independent. For example: washing, cleaning, and so on. I love to cook for other person and me, too. At the weekend I drive to my family. And we spend a lot of time together. We use this time for laughing, discussing problems, planning activities for the weekends and so on. As you can see family life is very important for me and my greatest wish is to have a great time with a “real” American family. In my area the catholic religion is very predominant, so we go to the church. Openness, independence, helpfulness, politeness and sociableness are positive sides of me. I have applied for a Au pair year in America, because I want to make new experiences, grow up, meet new types of culture and feel the “American way of life”. My biggest aim is to improve my English and have a successful year in America with fun and a lot of impressions which I hopefully never forget. Furthermore I have applied for a Au pair, because I like the employing with children’s. Through my practical training an a kindergarten. I was able extend my company with children’s in different groups of age. This reinforce my decision. Because I take care of children on the weekends and in my holidays, I involve good experiences.I find it is very interesting to see childrens growing up and that some of them learn things very puickly, like speaking and so on. I would be pleased, if you would give me the chance to get to know the “American way of life” together with your family. I would be very happy if you could show me new things, which are typical for your culture. I hope you accept me as your family member. I think we could have a lot of fun, spend time together. I would be pleased, if I could stay the year with you and your family and I am looking forward to get to know you soon and receive a positive answer from you.
