| Alex (34): wine merchant with 3 shops in Melbourne Kirsty (35): Book publisher and journalist – works mostly from home but needs to attend meetings and functions regularly in Melbourne. Henry (5-boy) in 1st year of school Jemima (4 -girl) and Charlie (21/2 – boy) – both attend daycare on Tuesdays
Henry loves drawing, ballet, arts and crafts – anything creative. He also loves the trampoline and playing his own make-up games outside. He loves to build his own cubbies, and has a wild imagination. Henry is calm, rational and generally well behaved. Jemima loves colouring, making puzzles, dressing up and being read to. She also loves riding her bike down the hill. Jemima is a strong-willed character who needs constant stimulation. She tends to get upset, and can throw tantrums if things are not explained clearly to her, or she has not had enough rest.
Charlie is a pretty typical 2/12 boy. He is active, happy, creative and loves being outside, kicking balls, jumping on the trampoline. He is starting toilet training, and can throw tantrums and just want his mummy to do things. You will need to be calm, and strong to diverty his attention away from the need for Mummy!
Wherever possible, I like the children to spend the majority of their playtime outside, in the cubby, garden, trampoline, on scooters and bikes.
We have 1 big friendly dog Maggie. She’s not very well behaved, but we are working on it!
We have a busy household and we need someone experienced with managing the demands and needs of three children, plus an excellent housekeeper. The au pair will be expected to the the majority of the housework every week./ We can give a full list of details on request. Please note, the housework requirements are more than light house duties and the au pair will be compensated for this.
Where we live We live in an old Chestnut Grove on 2 acres, right beside national parkland with lots of walking tracks on Mt Macedon, 40 mins north of Melbourne. Woodend village is 5 mins drive away. You can catch regular trains to Melbourne CBD 7 days per week and there is a local taxi.
Our house is 3 bedroom, modern, light and airy with big decks. All three children share a room. You will have your own bedroom and share a bathroom with the children. There is a TV in your room, and access to the internet.
We enjoy traveling, cooking, gardening, bushwalking and all outdoor activities. This job would suit someone who likes being outside.
We expect you to be treated as part of our family when we are here. If we go out for a meal, to the swimming pool, to the park or visiting or traveling you will be included as part of our family and we will cover the costs.
You are welcome to have friends to visit when you are not working, and we are happy to drop you at the train station, or nearby Woodend and Gisborne if you would like time to yourself. Preferably you will be able to drive yourself (although never the children).
We hope you enjoy your stay with our family. |
