Complaint   >> Posted: Sep 13 '07 by Suzanne in Ile-de-France, France
Ive worked for this family 18 months. The mother of the family hasn't paid me a big part of my wages and insurance. From the money she owes me she only paid me a small half (sofar?). I've made her several requests to pay me for my work. And finally pionted out to her that if she wouldnt pay me before the end of holiday I would consider that to be a break of contract from her side and I would no longer work for her.

Her response was negative and I gave her back her keys. It was quiet for several days and I allready gave up on the money she still owes me. To my surprise she sent me a text message the day before I would have started working again for her to ask if I was ready to pick up the kids from the station the next day. I replied negative and after that she shouted on my voicemail insulting, threathning lines. Two days later she send me another textmessage to say that she wanted the 400 euroos back or she would go to my new boss telling him Id stole the money from her. After allways being there for her and her kids at the strangest hours, situations and times for over 18 months and never stealing anything from her that hurts. I send her a message that the money she did pay me was only a small amount of the money she owed me, and if she had paid that before as agreed I would have been working for her at that moment.

Quiet for another week. But halfway last week again a text on my phone that she would 'undertake steps' if I wouldnt transfer the money back in one week in a threathning, terrorising manner. Sadly I felt I had to go to the police for info to ask if they could do anything against her terrorising and pestering me.

She was nice in the beginning but never kept her promises due to a coming home time, which is not a big problem if she would call me to let me know but she never did. I allways had to ask several times for my wages during the week, payed the grosheries for the family from them in the confidence I would get the money back (I normally did, but after asking several times) She allways twisted everything around to be my or one of the kids fault, something I only start to realise since I left, (forgot she parked the car in the garage and walked home and shouted at me the next day where I 'd left the car etc.) she made me feel a nag, asking for my wages all the time and bothered me with personal stories if I asked for my wages. The promised part-time house cleaner on her profile? Ive seen her twice in 18 months. I had to drive her to work and pick her up from the station even though this was not agreed anyhow. She promised me to take me on skiing trip with the family but told me last minute te car was full cause her kids brought friends. She promised to arrange and pay my visit to a specialist after an accident, I never got an appiontment. I reallly felt she has abused her skills and power as high office manager on me and made me feel more responsable for the family than herself. I hope the new aupair makes sure she/he gets a solid contract and arrangement for an automatic transaction for wages before starting work for this family.
