Unfortunately I have to report this young woman for not fullfilling her end of the contract. We have had numerous emails and also a phone call after which she had agreed to take the position we had offered. We then finalized a date for her to start and she actually asked if she could come earlier because supposedly she was able to catch a ride with a friend who was going to drop her off here in Nova Scotia. Well I have been trying to get a hold of her for more than a week, have emailed, called, talked to someone and asked for her to call us back, as we wanted to plan her arrival. She has not responded to any emails, has not called back, nothing. Yesterday was the day she was supposed to have arrived, well and obviously she hasnt. I am more frustrated than anything. I would have fully understood if she would have dropped a line and said that she changed her mind, or what ever reason, but at least have the respect to let us know that she wasnt coming. I am not sure but for some young people who are looking for jobs, they think its a joke or fun to make families believe that they are coming and then simply not show up. Unfortunately I cant recommend Thana to any family as at this point, I am unable to trust her. I would not want to trust her with my children at any time. I am hoping that no one else falls into her trap. I am not even sure if the reference she claimed to have is a real reference, why should I believe that at this point?? I have been with the Great Aupair for a bunch of years now, and this is the second time it has happend. I wish there was a way to be able to block these girls from the website, as I also believe Families who are turn out to be scams should not be allowed to put their profile up any longer. If I had the energy, time and truly believe it would make a difference, I would take legal action against someone like her as she broke a verbally binding contract. But quite frankly I have better things to do than wasting my time on something like this. First and foremost I have to find someone else. I wish all the families who are truly trying to find a nanny the best of luck and everyone who is looking for a family, I hope you find the placement you are wishing for. If there is a change in plans, be respectful and let the parties involved know.
