We are both professional people in our workplace and attend meetings with groups of others. It is very imperative that our nanny be on time so that we may fulfill our obligations, which is why we hired a nanny. After several discussions with Bethany regarding her tardiness, we terminated her. On her last day (08/15/07) Bethany was 40 minutes late...no phone call and we could not reach her on her cell phone. When Bethany finally showed up, we informed her that this was her last day. Her reply was "Than I'm not working today". We further explained to Bethany, that is what we meant when we said "Today is your last day". We often asked for her proof of first-aid training, it was never produced. Bethany had light duties involving the children's care...ie. picking up the toys, daily general hygiene (keeping the children in clean clothes and brushing their hair in the morning), maintaining a schedule, etc. We found these items to be compromised on occasion. We partially blame ourselves because she had a way of convincing us that these behaviors would improve. As many families know, it's difficult to find good childcare. We will never make this mistake again. Our advise to all families...Be very stringent in your screening process, and NEVER overlook what might seem minor at the time. Comment   >> Posted: Oct 23 '07 by Bethany in Minnesota, United States this posting is COMPLETEY untrue and actually really hurts that he would say those things after and entire year of my dedicationi was the one that could no longer stand the position. mostly due to the fact that for a year i was called NANNY by the very disrespectful and unprofessional father. my "light" housekeeping included (as written out on the sheet of chores i was given) monday: vacuum tuesday: dusting wednesday: clean the kitchen tables,chairs and walls thursday: vacuum again friday: mop the entire house which took almost 2 hours, on top of cleaning up after the kids AND the parents on a daily basis. and when one of these things didnt get done i got yelled at and threatened. a nanny is not a maid and that was not understood with this controlling father. i was late maybe 4 times in one year (which is still not excusable to be late) but i thought that it would be understood since the mother would come home late often without calling. a couple days before my work there was terminated (which is a big reason as to why) i was asked to stay an hour late. when the father called 5 minutes before he was supposed to come back asking for another hour which i could not give due to previous plans. his response was "so you expect me to get up from my dinner table because the nanny has to get home?" i said yes and he hung up on me. the father was HORRIBLE and treated EVERYONE that worked for him with disrespect which im sure is why they paid such a large amount to the people employed for them. and now he is trying to make sure that i cant get a job anywhere else which is what he told me he would do in a ever so kind voicmail that he left me. to any families reading this.. im sorry that you have to read about this childish nonsense and i hope that the lies that john has said will be put to rest once you get a chance to talk to me. thank you!
