Sarah is good with children and I would recommend her as a baby-sitter. She was good at finding activities for the children which they enjoyed; arts and crafts and drawing in particular. I would however, not recommend Sarah as a live-in au-pair. She lacks maturity and unfortunately still has the attitude of a young teenager, as opposed to an adult who has been entrusted with an important role/job. We needed someone we could entrust with our children as well as keeping our house tidy. For the most part she managed the children and their schedules without much difficulty. Unfortunately when it came to managing the house with basically one task per day requiring an hour tops, I found her to be lazy and completely uninspired to do the job. She could be helpful when it suited her although requests often had to be repeated. Much to our disappointment she turned out to be a person who takes the easy way out and is not one to take initiative. She was given a list of expectations and duties before accepting the position, many of which she ignored or simply chose not to do. Sarah mocks authority or any type of feedback/criticism which unfortunately caused our relationship and communication to be strained and the situation extremely uncomfortable. We wish Sarah well, but do suggest she do some soul-searching before deciding to become an au-pair again and disappoint another family in need of help.
