We agreed to pay for half of her airfare to Australia ($1300), and went out of our way to make her feel welcome and a part of our family, assuming she would be with us for at least 6 months. From the start however we found Katelin to be extremely unmotivated and lazy. She would not complete simple household chores she was asked to do, was very messy and untidy and was often very sullen and moody. When we spoke to Katelin about this she was extremely immature and her moods and attitude became worse. Since she has left friends and family have also commented on the way she treated them when we were not around. Katelin told us she had a card to use when she phoned her finance (whom she didn't tell us about until she arrived here) who lived in Canada. This however was not the case, and we have been left with an international phone and mobile phone bill of over $150.00. When Katelin left our house some items disappeared. I text her regarding this, but to date (one week later)have not had a reply. We hope no other family has to go through such a negative experience as we have, that is why we are posting this complaint. We are greatly dissappointed and upset with how things turned out and would not recommend Katelin for any future au pair positions.
