Although we had tried to prepare very well including speaking to her parents and meeting with herself and her mother in advance of her joining us, we had a very difficult experience. She presented as extremely quiet but polite and respectful at first but it didn't last! Her profile is untruthful. Firstly she describes herself as a non-smoker but consistently smoked in her room here - my neighbour came to warn me that while I was out at work she was hanging out the window smoking - with my three year old hanging out beside her! Also she clearly has never spent any time with a child before - in ten days she (literally) did not speak to my children - not one word. She sat on the sofa and did absolutely nothing. She told me that she cannot do housework as a cleaner always did it at home and would not even pick up a plate after her dinner. I came home from work to find my children had not been dressed all day or fed. I also worried because of her age (incidentally I found her through another website where she claims to be 18) and the fact that she was going out late at night with people she met via internet having only arrived a day or two. When we told her she'd have to go she was very rude and said there was no way she wanted to mind my kids anyway and had found another family to go to with only one child. I tried really hard to find out who they are but could not - she left without any forwarding details. I contacted her parents who apologised and said they are very embarrassed by her behaviour. i work in the field of child protection and it's my job to conduct risk assessments where there are concerns about a carer's capacity to provide safe care. This girl most certainly cannot and I would be really concerned about leaving any children in her care.
