She described the Atlanta family's 4 children as "problem" but my 3 yr old and 5 mo. old were easy, what's the problem ? I had to wake Erica every morning to start her day and it would still take her 1 to 2 hours to ready. Finally we she rose she would take the 5 mo. old into her room and lay back down leaving the 3 yr. old with me while I dressed for work. My wife and I made numerous attempts at motivating Erica to wake and ready the children for the day as opposed to leaving them in their pajamas, but she couldn't even fake it until we left for work. We then gave her a time schedule which she refused to follow. We gave her a meal menu to pick from which she also ignored. She has no idea as to what a child needs in terms of nutrition. I would call ask her what the 3 yr. old had for lunch and she would reply "bread butter sandwich" because that's what he wants. He has never asked me or his mother for bread and butter but he asked Erica daily. I explained that he's a child and he will eat candy 3 times a day if you let him, but she refused to follow the menu. Then there's the boyfriend. He wasn't in NY but he could send her into a week long depression where she wouldn't even bathe, making here hygiene horrible. We also live on 2 park like acres of property with a pool, swing set and lots of toys but Erica wouldn't even walk right out of the door to let the children get fresh air. Although it was on her daily schedule. It was always either too cold, too hot or too sunny. During the 5 mos. Erica stayed with us I can literally count on 1 hand the amount of times she cooked a meal, but she made it a point to always finish off tomorrows lunch when we cooked. Erica spent at least 3/4 of her day on the Internet or her new cell phone. It was usually in her hand even when caring for the baby. Erica failed to reinforce any of the basic educational needs of my children. After 5 months my son doesn't even know 1 French word, however he still counts in Spanish and remembers the basics his last nanny taught. Now to Erica's credit. She can be trusted. We have never missed anything and she will keep the kitchen very clean. Bottom line is, if you are looking for a teenage babysitter to sit home on the Internet and accompany older children who can fend for themselves but aren't old enough to be home alone. She may work out. Other than that she is far too un motivated to be a nanny/aupair.
