I have recently been a victim of the Nigerian scam. The aupair was using the alias "Tola Coker" and was represented by an agency called "Aupair Care" using the name Johnson Adetayo. She was not through this website, however, I don't believe that will stop them. If you are contacted by someone using those names or information, please contact the nearest authorities. I am currently working with a lawyer in an attempt to retrieve some of my money.

Hi i almost fell for a Nigerian scam just last month. The girl was called "jenny Lansley" and fitted our requirements exactly. i found her on au-pair options which does not have the information on scams like this site. In brief we exchanged emails for several weeks and she provided excellent 'references' then she said she had to come through a 'federal agency' the same as the one stated above and they would contact me. They did and asked for over £800 in visa a flight ticket fees to be sent by western union. When I told Jenny we had not agreed to pay any fees she said that it was fine and we could deduct it 30% weekly from her salary after she arrived. I almost got sucked in, but then a few giveaways appeared - her referee had mis-spelt his own name in a second e-mail. The second referee who was allegedly an american company director spoke in slang and couldn't spell! She also claimed to have cared for two quadraplegic kids singlehandedly after their mum died in a car accident which seems just too far fetched now I look back on it. I then started to get regular emails of increasing desperation from the 'agency' asking for money to process the visa. I stopped e-mailing 'jenny' and received a phone call from some woman claiming to be her but most definately was not a 21 year old girl definately a scam SO WATCH OUT! we are continuing our search but are much more wary now!
