My family is seeking care for my brother John who is 25 years old and due to a swimming accident is now paralyzed from the chest down. For the most part, he's pretty independent (well as much as you can be when you no longer have fine motor skills) but little things throughout the day he needs help with. Things we take for granted like taking a drink of water or adjusting his headphones when he's working on his computer (voice activated). We need someone who is kind and patient and willing to learn whatever is needed to provide my brother with the best support system possible. The assistant we choose will live with my family in Mapleton, Oregon in their home on the River. You might be responsible for running into town to gather groceries as well as assist my family in light house keeping. As of right now we aren't sure how much the position will pay but it will come with free room and board.
About Mapleton: Mapleton is a small town of less than 1000 people. It's nestled right on the Siuslaw River and is only 15 miles away from Florence, Oregon and the beach. There's a Lane Community College in Florence and The University of Oregon is only an hour away. Our Ideal candidate would appreciate the outdoors and would enjoy small town living. We want someone who not only works for us but becomes like a member of the family.
