Live-In Housekeeper / House Manager / Animal Caretaker

We are seeking a mature, organized, dependable, and professional individual with enthusiasm, warmth, and a strong sense of pride in their work to join our household and become part of the rhythm of our country home and property.
The ideal candidate will possess a caring and nurturing disposition, particularly toward animals, along with the ability to work independently, stay organized, and anticipate the needs of a busy household.
This role includes comprehensive household management and daily upkeep of a large residence, including organization, laundry, kitchen clean-up after meals, light housekeeping, errands, and helping maintain a welcoming and orderly environment. A professional cleaning team handles deep cleaning twice monthly, and a groundskeeper is on the property daily, so this is not a heavy cleaning or labor-intensive position. Rather, we are seeking someone who enjoys creating calm, order, beauty, and support within a well-loved home.
A significant aspect of this role involves caring for our three beloved dogs, especially while we travel. Comfort around horses is essential, as our property is also home to two horses and a magnificent 40-acre horse farm and healing center.
Our lives do not follow a traditional 9-to-5 schedule, so flexibility and adaptability are very important. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who notices what needs attention and is happy to assist with the many moving parts of an active household and property.
Additional responsibilities may include:
Assisting the groundskeeper as needed
Ordering household and property supplies
Coordinating schedules with service providers
Running errands and general household tasks
Watering plants and tending indoor spaces
Harvesting from our organic garden and orchard
Helping oversee the property while we are away
Our country home is occupied approximately one-third to one-half of the time. We occasionally host and workshops are periodically held in our yoga and sound healing studio located on the property.
We deeply value healthy living, nature, yoga, mindfulness, meaningful conversation, and learning about different cultures — including food, music, customs, ideas, and spiritual traditions. We maintain an alcohol-free and non-smoking household and seek someone who shares a grounded, respectful, and health-conscious lifestyle.
The property itself offers a uniquely peaceful environment, with a running stream, abundant wildlife, open land, gardens, orchards, and beautifully natural surroundings. We are located approximately 1¼ hours from New York City by rail.
We provide a fully furnished, spacious, sunlit one-bedroom apartment with kitchenette located just steps from the main house.
