The most important quality in a person we hire is a loving and joyful heart; someone who loves children and knows how to relate and communicate with respect and care. Other qualities would be a creative, balanced and highly organized and flexible approach to life. We need help with keeping things in order and we would love to hire a person who enjoys housekeeping, laundry and cooking. What has made things work well in the past was having someone who had the ability to communicate effectively and who was disciplined and consistent with what they committed to doing. This is what we strive for within our family as well. We need some one who is either from the US or already has a J1 visa already in place.
Because my husband and I both have our own business we need help in all the areas that I would be doing if I was a stay at home mom, so that is really the scope of the job. I am looking for someone who can help me out around the house so that I can have what little time I have with my kids to be rich and rewarding. When we are not around the focus is on them. They are great kids and have had nanny's and Aupair's living with them most of their lives and love them. Most of them all still stay in touch with us and at least 5 of them have all become yoga teachers as a result of living with us! Part of our work is that train yoga teachers.
Some of our past nannies have even moved to the area, gotten married and have babies of their own and live down the road from us. We consider them part of our permeant extended family. Living with any family can have it's ups and downs. We have done it for the past 10 years pretty successfully and as long as there is excellent open communication, respect and clear expectations and commitment to what we agree to... all works out to be good for everybody.

We are located in the Hudson Valley Region of New York state, about a 1-hour trip to New York City. The train that goes to the city runs along the scenic Hudson River. The Hudson Valley area is considered one of the most beautiful areas this close to New York City. So you have the best of both worlds, gorgeous natural settings and close proximity to New York City which has every thing you could imagine.
