Here is a concise description of who I am,
(The All-Round Teacher, Invention Educator and a Volunteer).
My name is Roseline Violet, a Kenyan Lady with 38 years of experience as a high school teacher, specializing in handling students aged 13 to 19 years of age and I am open to various teaching and caregiving opportunities.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Education (Double Mathematics) from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
My teaching career began in 1986, whereby I taught Mathematics, Biology, and Physical Education in various schools.
I have taught in a Girls only school and also in a Boys only school thus giving me enough experience on how to handle teenage boys and girls.
Not only am I a STEM Teacher but also an Invention Educator, passionate about engaging young learners in exciting hands-on activities beyond the classroom walls. These activities have enabled me visualize and present certain abstract topics in Mathematics and Biology to the learners in a more accessible, approachable and easier to grasp ways.
My dedication to education extends beyond in-classroom to providing out-of-classroom experiences for students and supporting them put theoretical concepts into practice.
My learners are also free to carry out further guided research on some of the topics by themselves over the internet and do presentations so as to further enhance their knowledge and understanding thus complementing what is learnt at school.
Having been a STEM Teacher and an Invention Educator I really love engaging my learners in tasks related to challenges they face at school and in their communities and task them with finding possible workable solutions from their surroundings.
This is a way of nurturing in them the safe use of the internet to provide them with background knowledge/information on their challenges besides also enriching their innovative and creativity skills.
They also use the internet to connect with their peers from other parts of the world hence making the world a global village from where they can share ideas and compare notes.
One of the ways in which my passion for teaching and care for my students was best demonstrated came about during the COVID-19 lockdown, when I contributed to a voluntary online teaching project back in my country, demonstrating my proficiency in remote/virtual teaching, using platforms like Zoom and Teams. As a Team of STEM Teachers, we taught for close to Seven months in from March 2020.
I personally taught Mathematics to the Secondary School students countrywide who logged in.
It was through this volunteer program that I enhanced my ability to reach out and teach students remotely.
In the November 2022, I was among the ten teachers who were awarded;
"The Africa Union Continental Teacher Award (2022)".
I've also received training in Basic Care Giving and First Aid at work from The St. Johns Ambulance (Nairobi-Kenya).
This piece of knowledge and information comes in handy for me when I need enhance the safety and wellbeing of my learners because I can provide the necessary First Aid that required in case of an emergency.
I am committed to making educational activities intriguing and enjoyable and less daunting for students of all age levels.
I have a keen interest on Learners who would require learning support to help them put into practice some of the concepts learnt theoretically.
