Prominent scientist and author with Parkinson’s Disease requires personal assistant with a combination of administrative and support worker skills.

The person should be mature, organized, resourceful, empathetic, patient, and trustworthy, with a sense of humour.

Caregiving duties include: assistance with walking/mobility, occasional patient positioning and dressing assistance, accompaniment to appointments, travel assistance to conferences and events, light housekeeping and laundry, occasional shopping and meal preparation.

Administrative duties include travel planning, help with organizing workspaces and systems, basic bookkeeping, assistance with correspondence, scheduling, note-taking, banking, record-keeping and errands. Excellent English required. Ability to edit and maintain web pages would be an asset.

The assistant should have flexibility to spend some days and overnights in other parts of the GTA, and occasional trips out of town, with the rest of the time in Toronto.

Requirements: computer-literate, including skills with spreadsheet and word processing software; driver’s license; experience in administration and/or caregiving.

Although not required, any of the following would be assets: interest in science or literature, background in research, familiarity with Parkinson’s Disease, and/or experience in travel & tour management.

Location is downtown west Toronto though there is some flexibility to work partly from home.
