My family is seeking a companion for my wife who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She is 60 years old and an outstanding mother to our four adult children. She enjoys gardening, going for walks, and relaxing in front of the television.
Our ideal caregiver will live in a private section of our home and will work full time for my wife as her companion and care giver.
Current duties include: companionship, house keeping, meal preparation and occasional administration of oral medication. As her disease progresses I expect duties will include more intimate tasks such as personal hygiene care. Although I usually assume care duties when I am home from work, there may be occasions where she needs assistance in the evenings.
My wife is from the Philippines and is most comfortable speaking Tagalog at this stage in her disease. Our caregiver MUST speak Tagalog.
We live in a lovely neighborhood in a suburb near Portland, Oregon. We have a large backyard with a beautiful garden that my wife has developed. Our caregiver can anticipate spending time in the garden with my wife on nice days.
Our neighborhood is very safe and we have two friendly dogs. Aside from allowing them in and out to our fenced yard, our care giver will not be responsible for pet care.
