I have a lot of time, patience and love for the older generation...what they have forgotten, we have yet to learn!
I may not have formal nursing qualifications, but I have lots of experience in caring for older family members, and others whom are dear to me. I'm fit, able, competent, and willing to learn anything new. I have experience with hearing difficulties and assisting with mobility with walkers.
I have my own reliable insured vehicle, as well as a driver's license and clear criminal record.I run errands, can easily run a home, assist with shopping, doctor's visits, outings and love to prepare nutritious and tasty meals....as well as come cook bulk meals and freeze in labeled portions. I am familiar with different dietary requirements and can follow any instructions given. I'm of sober habits, do not drink, and I'm an early bird who's always up and about and very much a morning person.
I am a hands on type of person who doesn't mind 'getting my hands dirty' or assisting with general housework, and can assist in competently training other staff members too. I have one son who is independent so I have no restraints when it comes to times and availability. I'm prepared to work weekends and public holidays. I'm also prepared to assist with travel and assistance during transit through airports etc. I hold a valid South African passport, and still have more then 6 years left on my American visa.I'm well travelled and have experienced many different cultures.
I'm mature, warm and friendly, and compassionate without being enabling. I'm chatty without being overbearing, and prefer to read or do crosswords, fiddle in the garden or engage in something mindful as opposed to watching tv or sitting on social media all the time. Love the beach, parks and outings.
I like to believe that I can think out of the box, make sound decisions and sort out problems as they arise, improvise where needed, and know when to escalate matters of urgency.
I speak English and Afrikaans, and have a quirky sense of humour and believe that a day without laughter is a day wasted.
