Introduction
I taught Kindergarten and Nursery and did Online teaching too.
I am a hardworking, loyal lady, who always puts the needs of the children in my care first. I enjoyed working in Kindergarten and to see how my students develop and grow. I was the English and Phonics teacher for KG 3. Introducing new words to them and teaching them the pronunciation and meaning of the words. Context is very important when learning a new language. I functioned on a supporting level, entertaining the Nursery, KG 1 and KG 2 students with vocabulary and singing and dancing. I loved being a teacher. In the classroom I realized that the time is so limited, and you do not “reach” all the students. Some just need that little more attention and therefore I decided to change my profession and became a nanny/governess.
I returned to my family I worked for in Abu Dhabi from August 2020 until June 2022. My mommy is expecting her third child and asked me to come and assist her with the girls until the summer break. I took care of 2 girls, ages 5 and 10. During lockdown we did school online. I assist the eldest daughter in English, Social Science, Maths, Art and Computing. The little one with Phonics and numeracy, reading and writing. I accompany them on outings and when we travel abroad. In my previous position in Germany, I took care of a little boy of 2 years and 6 months. I took care of a little Russian girl, age 2. We walked along the beach every morning, did some online French lessons. I cannot speak French, I just logged her in. We did some arts and crafts, singing and dancing, read stories and had so much laughter together. During my one break back home in Cape Town I took care of 3 teenagers, twins 13 (b&g) and girl 16. Their parents went abroad for 2 weeks. I woke them up for school, took them to school, took the 5 dogs for walks, picked them up from school, assisted with homework, took them to activities and doctor appointments. In the evenings I prepared dinner for them. They helped pack their lunch for school. I took them out on outings.
I love working with children and I’m very patient. It is wonderful to see my children achieve their goals. It is important they get the stimulation they need in all facets to reach their full potential. I am 51 years old but very energetic, dancing and entertaining my children. I believe that children must explore their environment and therefore make it happen in a safe and controlled manner. I am strict and I believe in discipline and boundaries.
Children feel safe when they know their boundaries and have a set routine.
I was in the South-African Police Service for 24 years. I was a Captain for 17 years. My responsibilities during my service years were in the Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Identification Management and Management of Information Centre. I represented the office Provincial Criminal Record and Forensic Services in Management meetings.
During my career path in Pretoria Criminal Record Centre, I coordinated management meetings with Commissioners and Brigadiers. I worked in the Project and Process Management section, developing and maintaining all process flows and procedures.
I am a mother of two boys (men) Cyle 25 and Bradley 22. After the birth of Bradley, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The doctors informed me that he will never walk or talk. With a lot of love, dedication and patience, he started to walk at the age of 2 years and 8 months. Today he runs, hop and jump. He loves to sing and dance. He is a “farmer” at Camphill Village, West Coast South Africa.
I will be available for my next position from 1 September 2023.
I will take care of your little one(s) with the same love, dedication and patience.
