Hello, my name is Aimeé. I am 18 years old and I am from South Africa. I started my studies at university in January this year (2024) and I have recently realised that I’m not happy with what I am currently studying. I wanted to change my studies to a medical degree but since I’ve decided this, the applications have closed. I don’t want to continue studying something that won’t be of use to my future and waste my parents’ money by doing so. Instead I want to take the rest of this year to so something for someone else, while I wait for applications to open up again so I can continue my studies. Although I have no professional experience with children, I have babysat multiple times for family and friends. People who know me generally describe me as hardworking, kind, patient, well rounded and mindful of others. I love creating meaningful relationships with people and pushing my comfort zone (which isn’t very broad at the moment). I also have an aspiration to travel. I’ve always wanted to visit the States and I see this as a good opportunity to do so. Another big reason for wanting to work overseas is because having a family is one of, if not my biggest goal in life. I am so excited to have children of my own one day, but until I do I would be honoured to look after someone else’s children and become part of their family.
