Introduction
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I want to use this space to introduce myself properly, not just list my qualifications, but actually tell you who I am and why I believe I would be a genuinely wonderful addition to your home.
My name is Abiola Toyin. I am a Nigerian woman, a mother, and someone who has spent her entire professional life in service of other people and their families. I am relocating to Canada and I am seeking a family who needs consistent, loving, and experienced childcare from someone who takes that responsibility seriously.
I have a nine year old son named Tolu, and raising him has been the most important work of my life. Everything I know about children, their emotional needs, their developmental stages, their little quirks and big feelings, I have learned both through motherhood and through years of professional work with families and communities. That combination of lived experience and formal knowledge is something I carry into every home I enter.
For over ten years I worked as a community educator across Nigeria, going from family to family, listening to people, understanding their challenges, and walking alongside them until things improved. I designed and delivered training programmes, I supported mothers with young children, I managed community welfare and conflict resolution, and I led an association of over two hundred families as their elected president. What all of that work taught me is that people, especially children, do not just need someone who is physically present. They need someone who is emotionally attentive, genuinely interested, and consistently kind.
I have been admitted to an Early Childhood Education programme at Lakeland College in Alberta, Canada. I share this not to impress you but to show you that my commitment to childcare is not situational. It is a direction I have chosen deliberately and am investing in with everything I have.
When it comes to working with children I bring a few things that I believe matter deeply. The first is patience. I do not rush children. I understand that every child moves at their own pace and that the most important thing an adult can do is create a safe and calm environment for that pace to unfold. The second is warmth. I am naturally a warm person and children feel that quickly. The third is reliability. I show up. Every day, with the same energy and the same commitment, because children need consistency more than they need perfection.
I am comfortable with children of all ages. I have experience with babies, toddlers, and school age children. I can help with school runs, homework, reading, storytelling, meal preparation, and creating a structured and loving daily routine. I also bring a rich cultural background that I believe adds something special. Nigerian culture places children at the very centre of family life and I carry that value with me everywhere I go.
I want to be transparent with you about something. I am not a young person looking for an adventure. I am a mature woman building a life in Canada with intention and purpose. I am not here for a few months. I am here to settle, to contribute, and to become part of a community. That means the family I work with is not just an employer to me. They are an opportunity to build something meaningful and I do not take that lightly.
What I am looking for in return is a family that treats their caregiver with dignity and respect, communicates openly, and genuinely values the person who cares for their children. I believe that when a caregiver feels valued, the children feel it too.
If anything in this message resonates with you, I would be so glad to connect. I am available from September 2026 and I am open to families across Canada, particularly in Alberta and New Brunswick.
Thank you again for reading. I hope we get to speak soon.
With warmth,
Abiola Toyin
