DEAR HOST FAMILY.
With this letter I would like to bring you closer to my life . I will try as best as possible to describe my life here , my dreams, my family and offcourse myself.
First of all I would like to thank you, that you take the time to read my letter.
My name is Delight, I'm 19 years old and I'm from Namibia. I'm currently living in Swakopmund with both my parents, Maria(46), and Innocent (47)and siblings, Desire (15), Deon(9), Deanne(4) . My father does logistics while my mother is one of the best bakers in town. Overall we are a pretty close traditional nuclear family .
I would describe myself as a reliable and caring person. I am really patient and empathetic. I am such a person who tries to make the best out of every situation and is always trying to help. In additional, I'm a very friendly, positive and an open-minded person who is interested in getting to know new countries , people and their culture. For leisure I love reading novels and listening to music.
My educational background is a bit twisted . In 2018 when I got to high school (grade 8) I had convinced myself that I wanted to study law and become a prosecutor. In 2020 when I was in grade 10, I chose to study the social science, but in 2022 when I was in grade 12 , I had a change of mind and wanted to study medicine/nursing at the University of Namibia (UNAM). Unfortunately one of the most important requirements was that I had to have Biology of which I didn't have. So, in 2023 I chose to do a bridging course with NAMCOL where , I could upgrade the subjects I have and I took Biology and Physics. but 8
So my plans when I come back to my home country is to pursue my studies in pediatric medicine/nursing
I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts. I took up a volunteering job at little Eden kindergarten school because of my love of children. I was dealing with the age from 4 years old and below .
I was also a volunteer at the Edublox centre Swakopmund, Learning and Reading. I used to help children with difficulty in reading, learning and studying. I even got an opportunity as a holiday teacher at Harbourview College where I was helping the grade 0-5 with their homework and studying. I had a great time with them. And I'm sure if your kids have any difficulty or needs any help with their school work ,helping them wont be a big problem.
To sum if all, being the eldest sibling at home , I always have to babysit my brother's and sisters when my parents are absent.
With the time I have spent with children, I have found out how much it is to have children around . I can't imagine a life without them.
The reason why I want to go to Germany as an au pair is that I want to get to know the Germans way of life as well as its different cultures. Most importantly it would be a great chance to spend an entire year taking care of your children .
And ofcourse it would help me improve my German skills as well.
I hope we can develop a good relationship, working and living together as a family. I would be very happy to experience an eventful year with you and your children. I am looking forward to talking to you.
